A baby that plays too much during the day and does not take a nap tends to wake up crying. Moreover, after the first year, babies often dream, and he/she may be waking up crying depending on the dream. In all cases, mother needs to provide security by reassuring that mother is right next to the baby. Mother needs to provide reassurance, but should not give food or let the baby fall back asleep by holding.
