How your baby has grown
Height: 20 to 25cm/ Weight: approx. 300g (pict Leg, Umbilical cord, Uterus, Arm)
- ① The eyelids and eyebrows develop. Your baby’s hair becomes distinctively darker while the eyebrows and eyelashes grow. The eyelids start to move to open the eyes. The auditory capacity develops to hear the sounds of the mother’s heartbeat, her stomach when food is being digested, and blood flowing through veins, not to mention sounds coming from outside of the uterus. It even sucks the fingers.
- ② It seems like there is not enough room for a baby to move around in the uterus. Your baby can move the limbs freely as the amniotic fluids are enough, and probably that explains the frequent changes in its position in the uterus.
How your baby's body changes
- ① You’ll sweat a lot due to changes in the metabolism.
Your lower abdomen becomes bigger and the ligament of your abdomen that supports the uterus expands, causing you pain sometimes and pressure on your heart. This can cause indigestion or flatulence. This is when the metabolism increases so much that you will sweat a lot and feel short of breath during physical activities. The color of the vaginal discharge becomes impure and the amount tends to increase. - ② You feel fetus movement across a wider area.
The fetus movement has been felt vaguely near the lower abdomen, but now you start to feel it through a wider area. You’ll find it hard to keep a balance as the belly swells up. You may also experience anemia or faint. Your skin also reacts through skin pigmentation and you feel great itchiness in your abdomen.

Gestational diabetes test
You should take a gestational diabetes test at 24 to 28 weeks into pregnancy. You don’t need to empty your stomach to take this test. This test requires you to drink 50g of glucose. If you’re found with anomalies, you should get a repeated test to confirm them by drinking 100g of glucose after emptying your stomach.
What You Should Do
- ① Wear comfortable shoes.
Avoid wearing shoes with higher heels as they are difficult to keep balance on and can cause you to fall over or become the cause of backache. The desirable height of heels is 2 to 3 cm and shoes with anti-slip soles. - ② Take care with hygiene and keep yourself moisturized.
As the metabolism increases, body discharges, such as sweat, increase while hormones cause more itchiness. Thus, you must take care with your hygiene and use moisturizer to keep your skin moist.
