1. Physical growth

The average weight of boys is 9.9-12.2 kg, while girls are 9.2-11.5 kg. The height of boys is 76.9-87.1 cm, and the height of girls is 75.2-85.7 cm.

2. Development

• 1) Movement/Exercise

  Your baby can walk on their own. Your baby can walk up the stairs, run, and even walk with toys in tow. They can help themselves undress, drink from a cup, and eat with a spoon.

• 2) Cognitive skills(Learning, thinking, problem-solving)

  They can learn the uses of everyday objects, recognize animals and objects, and indicate them by saying things like “woof woof” and “beep beep.” They also point to attract other people's attention. They show interest in dolls or stuffed animals while pretending to feed them food. They will point to body parts and scribble on their own. Your baby may follow single-word commands without gestures. For example, when you say “sit”, your baby will sit.

• 3) Language/Communication

  They can say a few words and may shake their head and say “no.” They point to others to indicate what they want. Intellectual curiosity increases so your baby asks more questions.

• 4) Social/Emotional

  They like to pass things to others as a game. They can be stubborn and show affection to those close to them. They can do simple pretend play like feeding dolls. In new situations, your baby may become attached to their caregiver. They may point out interesting things to others and explore them on their own or when their parents are close by.

3. How to Promote Development

• When your baby behaves correctly, you should actively praise them by giving them lots of hugs and kisses.
• Be firm in saying “no” to unwanted behavior.
• Spend more time praising good behavior than scolding bad behavior.
• Provide additional explanations about what your baby is trying to say.
• Give them colored pencils and paper and let them draw freely.
• Hide objects and ask your baby to find them.
• Use pots, plastic bottles, etc. to make sounds and let the baby hear the sounds.
• Provide a safe and loving space for your baby to explore.
• Describe your baby's emotions.
• Use imaginative play.
• Lead your baby’s emotions. Find a friend who is sad and encourage them to hug or pat the friend.
• Try asking simple questions.
• Ask them to blow and pop soap bubbles.
• Encourage drinking from a cup and using a spoon.

If any of the following occurs, consult a doctor :

• Failing to point at objects to show them to others.
• Not being able to walk.
• Not knowing what a familiar object is used for.
• Not imitating others.
• Not learning new words.
• Knowing less than 6 words.
• Not noticing or caring for when the caregiver leaves or returns.
• Losing the ability to do things they used to be able to do.
