Category Purpose
Blood test Deciding on when to use iron supplements by finding out whether anemic or not.
Blood type test An Rh-negative mother can cause fetal hemolytic syndrome.
This is to prepare for a transfusion in case of a hemorrhage during pregnancy or after delivery
Rubella test If infected with rubella at the early stage of pregnancy, fetal abnormalities may ensue.
Hepatitis test If the mother is a hepatitis B carrier, the newborn baby is vulnerable to vertical transmission. Its infection must be prevented.
Syphilis test If the mother is infected with syphilis, the newborn baby may contract it to cause abnormalities or a miscarriage.
